With so much going on lately, I forgot something really important…
Since my surgery Jun 16th, my energy level hits a wall by 3:00pm, and I struggle to wait until 10 to go to bed – so, no wonder I forgot. I didn’t even decorate for July 4th.
I forgot to pray about this!
With all my hustle and bustle of getting CLEARED for surgery, I didn’t even think to pray about the pathology results! So when the specialist read the report (NOT malignant!), it shocked me. I hadn’t even thought to ask God for the test to come back benign! He’d already miracled me twice with my heart and my lungs (read about that here), so the results aren’t what surprised me. It was my lack of awareness to pray for it.
Then when I came upon our verse for today, I learned why that concern was unfounded. The Holy Spirit had my back!
I forgot the Spirit was a tennant
When you accept Christ as Lord and Savior (you can do that here) and ask Holy Spirit to come into your life, He gladly takes up residence. And tenants know all about their landlords – even the stuff they try to keep private. Like not remembering to pray about test results.
Rom. 8:26a says, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought…” Boom! That hit me where I live. Not just the not knowing what to pray for. God gave the Spirit to us to help in this because He knew it would be a problem for more than just me. Now, let’s get to the good part:
Holy Spirit is proactive for you
The second half of our verse tells us, “BUT the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” Yes, Holy Spirit took care of this need FOR ME. I just got to see results, up-close and personal this time. Which makes me wonder:
How often does this happen? How often have I missed something big I should be praying for and Holy Spirit had to cover for me?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m amazed and grateful that the Spirit is there to do this for me. But until that day in the doctor’s office, combined with then reading this verse, it had also never occurred to me to thank the Spirit for any of His intercession.
