Some things are basic to my faith.
In a series of 5 short verses, the “Roman Road” details these basics. My plan for May is to explore these verses. This goes to answer a question I got recently: Why do I have a page on the blog titled “Meet Jesus”? My answer: Why not?
My relationship with Christ is so precious that I cannot assume that everyone who comes across my pages already knows Him. So it’s time to dig deep.
In part 1, we look at Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Three key points here:
- ALL – That means everybody. All of us. You. Me. Patty Perfect who lives down the street and seems to have her life together and has good hair days all the time. No one is exempt.
- SINNED – “Sin” is a church-y word that means to mess up. Either you do something you shouldn’t, or you don’t do something you should.
- FALL SHORT OF GOD’S GLORY – the messing up we do blocks us from hanging out with God. This is a real bummer.
So, today’s Roman Road recap:
Everybody has messed up and therefore cannot hang out with God.
Now before you get upset with this dreary announcement, let me promise you that God provides a way to fix this. As we continue down the Roman Road in the next few weeks, we will see a divine solution.
Action Plan: What is your favorite thing about hanging out with God? Leave a comment below and let me know.
