When You Know Your Purpose

March 1, 2022 Kathy Shaull

How long did it take you to find your purpose?

Classical piano

Classical music was everything to me when I was in High School. I just knew my purpose had something to do with that. My piano skills were advanced for my age, so I entered college to get a music degree. All went well until I had an evaluation. I had to play several piece from memory in front of all the music professors.

Memorization of music was my weak point, and I bailed in the middle of my last piece. I just got up and left — in tears. Word of this disaster spread like wildfire. And I was left reconsidering my future and my purpose. And eventually I changed to elementary education and later got my Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling.

It took me a while, but I found my purpose eventually.

Jesus was born KNOWING His purpose

Christ’s message was so revolutionary, that the religious leaders considered Him a threat to the Law and everything the prophets had laid out.

His answer to them? “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.” (Matt. 5:17) He knew His purpose, and He told them flat out.

He came to fulfill the Law — He became the blood sacrifice required to wipe away our sin.

He fulfilled the Prophets — In fact, Christ fulfilled over 300Messianic prophecies. He lived His life with the purpose of bringing those ancient prophecies to life.

PRAYER – USING 4 ASPECTS OF PRAYER

Adore – Precious Jesus, we praise You for fulfilling Your purpose without reservation. You didn’t cut and run when the going got tough.
Admit – I often take for granted all the Messianic prophecies that You fulfilled. How the odds of a mere human being able to accomplish that prove You are God’s Son. Forgive me.
Ask – Lead us to our purpose regardless of which stage of life we may be in. You are not finished with me, simply because I have retired from my day job.
Acknowledge – Thank You, Jesus, for Your faithfulness on the road to the cross. For Your daily walk that we can aspire to.
