Sometimes I like to camp out.
Now, when I say camp out, I mean that I park myself in a segment of scripture and hang there for days or weeks. For this girl, “camp out” does NOT mean tents and campfires and bug spray.
One of my favorite places to hang out in scripture is 1 Peter. I can think of at least 3 different times in my life where I settled in and read all of 1 Peter every day for a month. And God blessed me and gave me something new each day. It started with a sermon or a Bible study class or something where the leader/pastor challenged us to read the same entire book of scripture each day for 30 days. At the time, I was reading 1 Peter, and I just kept on.
Then recently, Stephanie Ackerman’s Documented Faith verse was from 1 Peter! My old friend. It was like coming home. I had just a tiny space in my journaling Bible, so I opted to do more of a mixed media page in my Documented Faith binder. It was wonderful fun. I haven’t taken time to do much art this month, and I’ve missed it. Life has gotten in the way for me. Does that ever happen with you? What do you do to recover your art time?
For me, it just means I need to camp out in the scriptures – in 1 Peter or anywhere else. God will be faithful to show up. I need to be faithful to show up on my end, too.
