The best gift ever? Eternal life!
Life has many stages
Retirement has mad me reflect on the various stages of my life. Child. Teen. Young adult. Newlywed. New mom. Empty nester. But I’m fortunate enough to know that when my earthly life is done, I will have eternal life.
A Twist that gives life
My study this year focuses on verses that we may be familiar with, but they all have one thing in common: they contain the word BUT. This week’s verse is no exception. It’s a chance for us to look closer and examine what God is trying to tell us.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish BUT have everlasting life.”
The Bible is a love story
It tells how God created man as His companion. How man really, really messed things up, and how God devised a plan to set things right again. And it’s all here in this single version.
- Love – God’s love for the people of the world was so great, that He didn’t want anyone to spend eternity apart from Him.
- Sacrifice – A blood sacrifice was required in order to receive forgiveness from God. But, in His mercy, He gave a single sacrifice for all people – His only Son. As a parent, I can’t comprehend this. It astounds me.
- Requirement – The only requirement from us is our belief in Jesus as God’s Son. That’s it. Faith in Him.
- Twist – What we receive because of our faith is the twist. Others will die. BUT we will not. We get everlasting life with God! We get eternity in exchange for our belief. If you haven’t made that decision, check this out here.
