What are you wearing?
I just love working through my Documented Faith verses! This week we were in Colossians 3. And we had this command:
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
And, as usual, my mind went in an odd direction. PUT ON.
PUT ON. Like we put on clothes. So I drew a new wardrobe in my journaling Bible:
1-a tunic with a compassionate heart
2-leggings of kindness – so we can go and DO SOME KINDNESS.
3 & 4-boots of humility and meekness – step carefully
5-a scarf of patience to wrap ourselves in, and cover our mouth when needed
6-and – to TOP IT OFF – a forgiveness hat, since forgiveness must be a deliberate CHOICE from the mind – often in violation with what the heart feels.
And, did you see WHY we need this new wardrobe?
Because we are God’s chosen ones. We don’t need to be running around in our dreary cut offs or yoga pants. We are children of the King. We need all this to be ready to represent HIM.
So, take a minute today and get dressed in your Kingdom clothes.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad I had a chance to pray for you.
